These numbers are FIPS codes, and TrueVector exports these codes instead of the
actual county names because county names are not unique. (Many counties
in the US have the same name, so FIPS codes are used). FIPS stands for Federal
Information Processing Standard, and every state and county in the US is assigned
a unique code. This avoids ambiguiity caused by using County names. In a
real-world application, these county ID numbers could be used to enter or retrieve
information from a database.
